Bonny Meyer is the Principal of Meyer Family Enterprises and Meyer Oil, and an active Partner of Meyer Family Cellars, Gold River Mills and Pro Attitude.
Bonny co-founded and co-managed Silver Oak Cellars from 1972-2001. Bonny and her husband, Justin, started Silver Oak in 1972. Bonny ran all business operations from inception to 1981 while Justin ran Franciscan Winery, which the partners owned and managed from 1975-1981. When Justin turned his attention to Silver Oak, Bonny focused on Silver Oak's image. She directed marketing, product packaging design, building design, public relations, and the hospitality environment. Together Justin and Bonny grew Silver Oak from a dream to a world-class producer of Cabernet Sauvignon. Before the Meyers sold Silver Oak they started another winery with their children as partners, Meyer Family Cellars. This small Port project begun in 1987 has now grown to include production of North Coast Syrah and "Bonny's Vineyard" Cabernet Sauvignon. Bonny is actively involved in marketing and strategic planning, working alongside son Matt, winery Manager and Winegrower.
As Principal of Meyer Family Enterprises, Bonny oversees investment selection and the management of a number of business enterprises. These businesses include, but are not limited to: Meyer Family Cellars, Gold River Mills, Hinode Rice, Meyer Oil (an oil exploration investment enterprise), and is a recent and active founding member of Charter Oak Bank. Other investments include a variety of securities and vineyard and commercial real estate.
Bonny is an active philanthropist. As Director of the Meyer Family Fund and Justin Meyer Scholarship Fund, she hones in on specific focus areas of interest, inviting and assessing grant proposals. As a result of this process and associated site visits, Bonny's philanthropy extends way beyond funding. She is deeply involved in strategic and venture philanthropy. Her latest venture philanthropy project, ProAttitude, creates an income stream for the International Center for Attitudinal Healing while teaching attitude shifts that end stress. Bonny spearheads the business development of this corporate consulting enterprise.
Current and previous community involvement includes Board membership of World Business Academy, Biogenesis, Napa County Farm Bureau, Justin-Siena High School, St. Helena School Site Council President, Napa Valley Grantmakers, Community Foundation of Napa Valley, community 4-H Leader, volunteer teacher at Mont La Salle Middle School and St. Helena Elementary School, Children's Health Council, Palo Alto, and Recreation Director, Santa Clara School District.
Growing up in Los Altos, California, Bonny attended the University of California at Davis where she earned a degree in Psychology and both Primary and Secondary Teaching Credentials. Continuing education includes a four-year course in the Feldenkrais Method from the Institute of Movement Studies in Berkeley, CA.
Bonny splits her time between Napa Valley and her Sausalito houseboat. She loves to sail, play guitar and sing with friends. She is a retired skier (injuries) but still drives fast when no one is looking.
